Apple releases iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate 27 with a rebuilt Siri

Apple has released iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate 27. The iPhone update covers models from the iPhone 11 onward, following several months of beta testing.

The headline change is Siri, rebuilt for the generative AI era: the assistant is now context-aware and, in day-to-day use, more useful. Apple also continues refining its Liquid Glass interface, with design adjustments and bug fixes.

Access to Siri AI will not be uniform. Reports point to issues still being worked out in the European Union and in China. In France, the assistant is not available, leaving smaller additions such as a customizable camera, the return of the photo library and an AI-assisted photo editor.

On the Mac side, macOS Golden Gate 27 is also the last release of the system to support Rosetta for Intel apps.
