Apple AirPods 5 bring ANC and Live Translation to both models
Apple’s new earbuds add active noise cancellation across the lineup, plus better water resistance and sound.

Apple has introduced the AirPods 5, its latest regular earbuds. Both models in the lineup now include active noise cancellation, a feature the entry-level AirPods 4 went without. Because Live Translation relies heavily on ANC, it is available on both versions as well.
Apple says the ANC blocks 50 percent more noise than on the AirPods 4, with richer, more detailed sound. The company credits a new multiport acoustic architecture, along with revised ANC algorithms and Adaptive EQ. Water resistance moves from IP54 to IP57, meaning the earbuds can handle submersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes, where the earlier pair was only protected against splashes.
The model with the Wireless Charging Case adds audible Find My locating, swipeable volume controls on the stem, longer battery life in both the earbuds and the case, and wireless charging through any Qi or Apple Watch charger. Those extras are what separate the two versions of the AirPods 5.
