Bose refreshes Ultra Open Earbuds and adds Sport Open Earbuds
Bose’s second-generation open-ear earbuds and a new sport model arrive on October 1 with longer battery life.
Bose has announced the Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) and the Sport Open Earbuds, two open-ear models that both go on sale on October 1. The Ultra Open Earbuds keep the cuff-clip shape of the 2024 model, with a beveled metallic cap and a redesigned case that stands upright and charges wirelessly.
The new Ultra model uses a newly engineered driver that Bose says brings deeper bass and higher volume than the first generation. It adds Cinema Mode, built on Bose TrueSpatial, plus SpeechClarity for calls and Auto Volume. Battery life reaches up to nine hours on the buds, up from 7.5 hours, with 19.5 more hours in the case.
The Sport Open Earbuds are aimed at running and outdoor activity, with a soft silicone finish, textured physical buttons and an IP54 rating for dust, sweat and splashes. Bose claims a secure fit during head shakes. They last up to seven hours, with up to 22 additional hours from the case, which also supports wireless charging.
Both pairs use Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint for two devices and Google Fast Pair, and offer shortcuts for Spotify Tap and the phone’s voice assistant. On launch day, a firmware update adds Google Find Hub and Alexa+ support to the Ultra Open Earbuds.
