Meta reportedly preparing camera-free Luna smart glasses for October
A model without a camera, with six microphones and Meta AI, would be shown at Connect on 23 and 24 September before shipping in October.
Meta is developing a pair of smart glasses without a camera, according to a report. The model, called Luna, would be unveiled at Meta’s Connect developer conference on 23 and 24 September and ship in October.
Luna would keep six microphones built in, along with speakers aimed at the wearer’s ears, giving a way to talk to Meta AI. A button on the side activates the assistant quickly. The glasses would come in two styles, Clubmaster and Burbank, with slimmer temples that make them look like ordinary eyewear.
Meta’s current glasses include an LED that blinks while recording, and an August update closed a loophole that let users film secretly by covering the light after recording had started. The camera-free model is presented as an answer to privacy concerns around the existing range.
