iOS 27: a sequence of swipes freezes the iPhone screen
The freeze is temporary and leaves the phone’s data untouched, and a forced restart brings it back.
Apple’s public rollout of iOS 27 began on Monday 14 September 2026. A few days later, a flaw spotted only after that release freezes the interface of some iPhones completely.
To trigger it, start on the Home Screen, swipe from the top-left corner to open notifications, then immediately swipe from the top-right corner to open Control Center. Closing Control Center afterwards locks the display: it stops answering to any touch, and the physical buttons change nothing.
The lock-up is temporary and affects neither the phone’s internal components nor its data. One procedure clears it: briefly press the volume up button, then the volume down button, then hold the lock button until the Apple logo appears. The iPhone restarts and works normally again.
According to the report, the flaw is still present in the first beta of iOS 27.2, and a minor update could arrive in the meantime if Apple considers it too disruptive for users.
