Samsung has added a new model to its Galaxy A line in Europe. The Galaxy A18 has turned up in press materials for France, Norway and Sweden, with no formal launch event attached to it.

The phone is a 4G device, and Samsung has not announced a 5G version. It reads as a modest refresh of the Galaxy A17, with one notable change inside: the Helio G99 chipset of the earlier model gives way to an Exynos 1610. Samsung has shared little about that chip, so its performance and position in the range remain unclear for now.

Two other details stand out. The screen keeps a notch for the front camera, and the body carries an IP64 rating, which covers dust and splashes rather than immersion in water.

For buyers in the markets where it is listed, the Galaxy A18 sits at the more affordable end of Samsung’s range. Beyond the chipset swap, the company has not described other differences from the model it replaces, and availability in other regions has not been detailed.
