Spotify adds a toggle to keep kids' music out of your recommendations
The setting lets parents stop nursery rhymes and family listening from shaping their personal taste profile and Wrapped.
Spotify is rolling out a new toggle in its app settings that keeps kids' and family music from affecting a listener’s personalized recommendations. The option is aimed at parents and guardians of young children who share their account with them.
With the setting on, children’s tracks no longer feed into the user’s taste profile. That covers songs played on repeat as well, and the effect carries through to the service’s yearly recap, which should no longer reflect what children have been listening to on the account.
The change addresses a common mix-up: the same account often holds both a child’s listening and the subscriber’s own. Until now, that overlap could steer the music the platform suggested over time.
The rollout begins now. Spotify has not said whether the toggle will reach every market at once, or which versions of the app will show it first.
