Anthropic merges Claude Chat and Cowork into one interface

Claude now routes each request on its own, and adds document and presentation tools for Pro and Max subscribers first.

Anthropic is merging Claude Chat and Cowork into a single interface, so users no longer pick between one tab for quick questions and another for larger tasks. Claude works out what a request needs and routes it on its own.

The unified window brings together chat, Cowork and Artifacts, the interactive workspace, along with Claude Docs and Claude Slides. Docs lets users draft sections with Claude, ask questions and comment on finished parts; Slides creates presentations that can be exported as PowerPoint or PDF files. Claude Design, introduced in April for website and prototype design, now works anywhere inside the product. Generated documents and slides can be shared by link and edited on a phone, and a task started on a desktop can be followed from the mobile app. Work keeps running in the cloud after the laptop is closed.

The rollout starts with the Pro and Max plans on web, desktop and mobile over the coming weeks. The free and Team tiers follow later, and enterprise administrators get at least 30 days' notice.
