TypeSafe AI’s Jev answers in milliseconds, without writing a sentence
A model built for software that needs quick fixed answers to closed questions, rather than conversation.
TypeSafe AI has presented Jev, an AI model that does not write sentences. The company, founded in 2024 in San Francisco, calls it the first "System One Model", a reference to the psychologist Daniel Kahneman’s distinction between fast, intuitive thinking and slow, deliberate reasoning. Jev comes from Diogo Almeida, a co-author of the work that led to ChatGPT.
Jev is not a chatbot. It receives raw material — an email, a support ticket, a line of a log — together with a list of closed questions: is this spam, will this customer leave, should someone be alerted? It returns one answer per question, each carrying a probability. Where a conventional model writes its answer word by word, Jev computes all its answers at once, in parallel.
TypeSafe AI announces response times of between 70 and 500 milliseconds, against several seconds for a large model running in reasoning mode. Those measurements were taken from the west coast of the United States, where the service is hosted, so a developer working further away adds network travel time on top.
