MediaTek announces Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship chip on 2nm process
MediaTek has made its new flagship Dimensity 9600 Pro official, a chip built on a 2nm process that the company says brings performance gains.
MediaTek has taken the wraps off the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its latest flagship chipset for mobile devices. The company says the chip is built on a 2nm process, the newest node from its manufacturing partner TSMC.
MediaTek presents the Dimensity 9600 Pro as a performance step up over what came before, though the announcement as reported gives no figures for speed, power efficiency or graphics. No phone makers were named as launch partners, and no date was given for when the first devices carrying the chip might appear.
The 2nm label refers to the manufacturing process used to build the silicon, a generation chipmakers have been preparing to move to. For buyers, it is a signal about the kind of phones expected later rather than a product available now.
