Perplexity brings its Portable Computer agent to Windows 11 PCs
Perplexity’s local agent can now run on a Windows 11 PC fitted with a powerful enough RTX graphics card.

Perplexity has extended its Portable Computer agent to Windows 11 PCs as of Monday, 14 September. The tool, launched in late August on Nvidia DGX Spark machines, runs entirely on the computer hosting it.
The recommended setup remains demanding: an RTX graphics card with at least 24 GB of video memory. That limits use to GeForce RTX 3090, 3090 Ti, 4090 and 5090 cards, along with certain professional GPUs such as the RTX Pro 4000, RTX A5000 and RTX Pro 6000.
The AI models, the agent and its tools are installed directly on the machine. Work happens without going through the cloud, which avoids the token costs of calling a remote model.
The agent can also run in a hybrid mode: tasks too advanced for the local models are handed to online models, with the user’s prior consent and under their supervision.
