M6 chip benchmark appears ahead of new Mac mini launch on September 22
A first Geekbench 7 result puts Apple’s 2nm M6 ahead of the M5 in single- and multi-core CPU scores, days before the new Mac mini arrives.

A first, unverified Geekbench 7 result for Apple’s M6 chip has appeared in the benchmark database, ahead of the launch of the new Mac mini on Tuesday, September 22. The Mac mini will be the first Apple device to use the 2nm M6.
The chip scored 4,071 in single-core CPU and 22,783 in multi-core CPU. Average M5 scores stand at 3,641 and 17,948, which puts the M6 at roughly 12% faster in single-core and 27% faster in multi-core performance. The M5 figures come from a 14-inch MacBook Pro.
Apple says the M6 has the world’s fastest single-threaded CPU performance, and the 4,071 single-core score tops the Geekbench 7 database, above the M5 Max at 3,731 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme at 3,396. The multi-core gain matches Apple’s claim of up to 1.2× faster multi-threaded performance, and the score is more than 2.5× that of the original M1. Real-world performance varies.
Apple will also launch a new Mac Studio on September 22, with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, while the Mac mini line adds an M5 Pro option.
